Hey Everybody

First off, I wanna let everyone who doesn't already know, Tyler Nicholas got his mission call to England.

This week has been pretty sweet. To start off on a down note, my MTC comp, Elder Fox, went home. Kinda sucks, he was just was done with it.

But on the up side, we found out the Provo mission, the only English speaking mission that beats us in baptisms (not that it matters but it's fun to compete) is getting split later this year. The St. George mission will be created.

This week I went into a home that was built in 1901.  It was such a cool house and didn't need a lot of fixing up.

One of the biggest rule that is stressed in our mission is to be with our companion AT ALL TIMES. The only time we are away from them is if we go on what's called exchanges. When we both go with an adult male member of the church. We did that this week because we had 2 lessons at the same time. We planned on meeting at the next lesson we had after we were both done. Elder Evensen sent a text saying he was on his way to the next lesson and to meet him there while we were about to leave our first lesson.

The only problem was the lesson we were going to meet at canceled. They were all asleep. So the old guy that I was with dropped me off and drove off thinking Evensen was inside waiting for me. But he was at the other side of our area. Which left me walking down the street by myself for the first time in 5 1/2 months -  looking for someone to be with fast. I finally found the ward's bishop, who just got home when I was knocking at his door and chilled with him till I got back with my companion. It was fun.

At the beginning of the week we had few investigators and only 1 with a goal date to get baptized. Over the week, we've found 5 more people who want to be taught and now have 4 investigators with a baptism date. It's been crazy how we've found them. We've worked really hard to find people to teach, but haven't found anyone on our own efforts. 2 people were meeting with someone in their church and switched over to us. 1 we got at dinner. The family we ate with had a kid who wasn't baptized and wanted to be. 1 was just being led by the spirit. We were looking for a member and missed it by one house, so we ran into a sweet Christian family from the south. We're mainly talking to the dad right now. Our last one was from a random house we decided to knock. It turned out to be a member who was going to have a hard day the next day and hadn't been to church in a while. We committed her to read the Book of Mormon and she was glad we stopped by. She told us to visit the house across the street which is where we found our last investigator.

It's been a great week. Hard work pays off in ways you won't see coming. We also talked with a pastor of another faith and he's going to have us over for dinner and we're gonna tell him all about us because he's heard so much different stuff he doesn't know what to believe. It's gonna be sweet.

So all in all, good week. Hope yall had a good one too.

Love yall,

February 16, 2010

Not a lot of time today. The week's been good. We had a baptism on Sat. it was really nice. We just need to find investigators to fill in for all the ones we baptize. Not too much has happened this week. I love the area I'm in. I still think i like the Terrace more right now though. But, the people are great and the work is good.

We had Elder Johnson, who is in the 1st Quorum of the Seventy talk to one of our stakes. After he spoke we got to talk to him for a little bit. Talking to a General Authority has strengthened my testimony on how they are truly hand-picked by the Lord. What he spoke was our Heavenly Father's will. Elder Johnson hasn't been a stake president or even a bishop, which is cool because it shows the church isn't like a "corporate ladder" you don't build your way up. You are called to what you are called. God knows each of us individually and has us do as much as we can, but no more. He has also given us the Book of Mormon to help us in our lives. The biggest difference between the Book of Mormon and the Bible, is the Bible was written for the people in that time, but still helps us now in these days. The Book of Mormon was written only for us. The people of their time didn't regularly study it.

Which is why we must ask ourselves, Why did the Lord inspire the prophets to write exactly what they did for us? Why is that specific verse in there, and how can it help us in our lives today? I haven't thought of that before. Something that I thought of when Elder Johnson was speaking was I'm going to pick a verse a day and try to ponder it. I encourage y'all to give it a try. Along with regular reading of the scriptures, I'm going to take a part of the word of God and wonder what it truly means and why it's there for us.

I know this is Christ's true church, that he runs it through a living Prophet. That we have Apostles and General Authorities to strengthen us and support President Monson. What anyone is called to do in this church is of the utmost importance. I love you all, sorry about the lack of stories today, send some letters,

Hey Everybody

So today marks my 5 month mark! It's been a crazy 5 months.

The last week I've been trying to learn my new area. My companion, Elder Evensen, is also trying to learn half of the area, because they gave us a new stake. So neither of us know half the area, and only he knows the other half.   But it's fun. We are over 2 stakes, Clinton North and Roy South, and 18 wards. It keeps us busy... still on bikes. The other missionaries in the zone are pretty sweet, I'm pretty excited for this transfer.  The only down side is my home is SMALL. I went from a full apartment last transfer to only a bedroom in a members house.  I have one bedroom with Elder Evensen to sleep, study, and spend time. Kinda really clausterphobic

We had a baptism this Sat. It was cool to go to... been a while since I've been to one. My area is rural suburbs, so I was pretty scared that I wouldn't have any more crazy Ogdenite stories. I was wrong. They may not be Ogdenites, but they still are fun.

There is a house with a full sized pet cemetary in the yard. It's really creepy to walk by at night. I also met with a guy who, once finding out I'm from Texas said, "so you were hit pretty hard with that Haiti thing weren't you?" A bit confusing.  I'm not sure if he thought Texas was an island by Haiti or not. Either way I gave up and agreed.

I heard a good quote for the week. "A fish discovers water last" Many who have grown up with the Gospel come to a full knowlege and appreciation late. I know I did. I encourage all fish out there, anyone who has learned about our Savior and our Father in Heaven to discover it now.  Don't take it for granted.  Discover water!

Love you all and hope to hear from you soon.

Transfers

Tomorrow is transfer day. I will be going to Clinton North and serving with Elder Evenson. I've never met him but i hear he's easy to get along with. Just has his feelings hurt easily. Haha, but it'll be fun.

I have mixed feelings about leaving. I've been here for 4 1/2 months and want to go somewhere new, but I don't want to leave the people i've worked with for so long and really grown to love. Guess I have to get used to it.

I found out that Texas will be beating BYU in some football in 2011. Which is awesome, because I'll be off my mission and HOPEFULLY will have a ticket to that game. I can't wait.

Elder Henke and I have been getting up at 4:45 in the morning to go play some tennis... indoor of coarse.  It's been sweet. We've played 4 times this week and picked up over 5 new investigators and set 2 baptism dates. Just goes to show that Heavenly Father approves of tennis.

It's been a great week as far as progress goes. It's been our best week number wise in any and all categories. I think we were tested till the end of the transfer and then recieved all the blessings. This week Elder Henke and I got some sweet tatoos, which we had to rub off to play tennis. So we will be returning back to a sweet family today to get new ones to mess with the new comp.

The mission has had a great month in Jan. We had 218 baptisms, and 109 of them were in one week! It's awesome. Expically since Provo is our rival for English speaking mission with most baptisms. I'd like to see them do 109 in a week. It's warming up a bit, at least for now. It actually got up to the high 40's, but once the sun goes down the temp plummets.

That's all I have for today. I gotta go say goodbye to everyone. Send me letters. The address is still the same. So no worries there.

Love yall, READ THE SCRIPTURES
